The setup home
Setting up a winery rarely happens in one sitting. The setup home at
/admin/getting-started is where you land between sessions: it shows how
far along you are, what is next, and what still stops you going live. It is
not a second checklist — its rows are the same steps as the Set up your
winery wizard, and every row opens the wizard at that step. The steps
themselves are described in Onboarding.
Who can use it
- View —
company.read: Manager, Concierge, and Admin. - Change anything in the wizard —
company.update: Manager and Admin. Setup is normally done by the Admin who created the account.
One address, three states
What you see at /admin/getting-started depends on where the account is.
| Account state | What you see |
|---|---|
| Setup unfinished, wizard never closed | Avero keeps you in the wizard at /onboarding. The setup home is not reachable yet. |
| Setup unfinished, wizard closed | The setup home, described on this page. |
| Live | Getting Started, a checklist with a Readiness Score — see Onboarding. |
Closing the wizard with the X or Cancel is what unlocks the rest of the app. Avero takes you to the dashboard, and the banner described below appears.
Get to the setup home
- Choose Continue setup → on the banner at the top of any page.
- Or open Settings → Your business → Setup ("Finish setting up Avero, one step at a time").
The banner while setup is unfinished
Until you go live, every page except the wizard and the setup home carries a banner: "Setup isn't finished. You can look around, but sales and payments stay off until you go live." Its Continue setup → link opens the setup home, not the wizard directly.
You can set things up as normal: add products, build seating areas, invite your team. Selling is what is held back. Ringing up at the POS, taking a payment and checkout are refused while setup is unfinished and Stripe is not ready, and seating guests, opening checks and creating reservations are refused until your winery details and floor plan are in place. Plan on nothing being sold until you go live. The banner has no dismiss button; it goes away when you go live.
Read the page
The title is Set up followed by your winery's name, with the line "Look around any time; sales and payments stay off until you go live. Setup saves as you go."
- Progress — a line such as 3 steps left. Next: Get paid. and a Steps done bar. Review and Go live are the finish, so they are not counted. When nothing is left it reads Every step is done.
- Your setup — the wizard's steps, numbered. A filled circle means done; the step to do next carries a Next chip. Under each name is a one-line summary of where it stands — for example which data source you chose, whether Stripe is connected, or that your POS PIN is not set.
- Going live — either Ready to go live with a Go live button, or Before you can go live: and a list of what is missing. These are the same blocking issues the wizard's Review step shows.
- How you sell — Tasting room, Online store and Wine club, each marked In use or Not used. Change opens that step of the wizard.
Only the steps that apply to you are listed. If you do not sell online, for example, Online store is not in the list.
